Every hour of every day, at least one American dies from melanoma! This disease is increasing faster than any other cancer and does not discriminate, striking people of all ages, races and sexes. There are over 1,000,000 Americans currently battling melanoma and over 192,000 people will learn this year that they have this terrible disease…and approximately 500 of them will be children!
When caught early, melanoma is treatable. However, when caught late, the odds of survival decrease significantly. The Melanoma Research Foundation is leading the way to transform melanoma from one of the deadliest cancers to one of the most treatable through research, education and advocacy. Despite melanoma’s incredible devastation, magnitude and reach, it continues to receive only 10% of cancer research funding.
Please help join us in the fight by taking part in the 9th Annual DC Wings of Hope for Melanoma Gala. This year’s gala will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at the Ritz-Carlton, Tysons Corner. The gala will include an evening of exquisite food and drinks, live music, silent/live auctions, and the opportunity to network with local business leaders.
At our last event, DC Wings of Hope raised over $270,000 through the generous support of gala attendees and sponsors… all of which went to support the fight against melanoma! The critical funds that are raised through this gala help to increase research grants, support patients and their families, and educate the general public about this deadly disease.
